JOHOR BARU, 28 July (The Star) -- One thousand schools nationwide will implement the e-Integration programme aimed at promoting racial unity among schoolchildren.
Deputy Education Minister Datuk Hon Choon Kim said the programme would be launched in 353 schools nationwide by August.
Implemented as a supplement to the Student Integration Plan for Unity (RIMUP), the RM8mil software will enable students to communicate with each other even if they are living in remote areas.
The software will be given free to schools.
“It is important to make sure the younger generation of all races mix with each other,” said Hon.
He said that school authorities could decide on their own which schools they wished to group with, from the four different clusters listed for the programme.
Cluster A will consist of a national school, a Chinese school and a Tamil school.
Cluster B is combination of a national school and a Chinese school; cluster C comprises a national school and a Tamil school; and cluster D, a Chinese school and a Tamil school.
Teachers from the schools involved could choose from five different modules that included topics like patriotism, academic excellence, sports and games, co-curriculum and social service. |
