By : N.T.A., Mersing (The New Straits Times) MY 53-year old mother recently went to the Immigration Department in Seremban to apply for an international passport.
Despite my worry that she would face difficulties in filling out the form, she assured me that she would be fine.
Guilty of being prejudiced, I was doubtful about my mother’s positive expectation of the department’s staff, as a lot of negative publicity has surrounded them of late.
However, I was proved wrong as I received a call from my mother a few hours later raving about her wonderful experience in the office.
Not only did she get her passport done in two hours, but the staff also helped her to fill out the forms and have her picture taken there. Her experience showed me that it is unfair to judge civil servants harshly just because of a few rotten apples. |
