Big strides in move to cut government red tape and improve delivery system. |

PUTRAJAYA, 17 Aug (The Star) -- The Special Task Force to Facilitate Business (Pemudah) has made significant strides to reduce red tape and serve the public better, Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi said.
Among its achievements are:
> On tax matters, the period for refunds have been reduced from a year previously to 14 to 30 days;
> For those starting business, the approval for new business registration now takes one hour rather than three days;
> On employment matters, the processing of expatriate work permit applications has been reduced from 14 days to within seven days;
> As for business licences, environmental impact assessment report approval times have been reduced from three months to five weeks; and
> Online application and approval for business licensing in the manufacturing sector will be introduced in October under the Business Licensing Electronic Support System. |
