Higher fees to replace MyKad. |

KUALA LUMPUR, 27 Sept (The Star) -- MyKad holders will be charged RM100 to replace the card, effective from next month.
The fee rises to RM200 and RM300 for second and subsequent replacements respectively. No processing fee would be charged, said the National Registration Department.
Currently, payment for MyKad replacement ranges from RM30 to RM120.
The department's director-general, Datuk Mohd Abdul Halim Muhammad, said the new rates was applicable to both Malaysian citizens and non-citizens, and it was meant to curb the “problem of missing identity cards.”
However, exception will be considered for:
# THE poor, disabled, the elderly – with a confirmation letter from the Welfare Department, District Office, Penghulu or the Orang Asli Affairs Department;
# LOSS of MyKads because of robbery or snatch theft – with a police report stating the details of the incidents clearly; and
# THOSE affected by natural disaster such as fire, floods, typhoons, landslides or tsunami – with a confirmation letter from the Welfare Department, the Penghulu or the District Office. |
