PETALING JAYA, 11 Jan (The Star) -- Students can expect to find answers to their many queries on tertiary education at the Higher Education Ministry's booths at the Star Education Fair 2008.
With 14 booths this year, a big jump from the six taken up last year, the ministry is aiming to showcase its various divisions and the full range of services available to the public.
“There will be information on public and private higher institutions, National Higher Education Fund Corporation (PTPTN) loans, polytechnic and community colleges, the student admission management division and the Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA),” said the ministry’s marketing and international division director Dr Mohamed Nasser Mohamed Noor.
He said there would also be talks on various topics including research opportunities in local universities and those concerned about recognition of courses would be able to check the MQA’s Malaysian Qualifications Register at the fair.
“We will have consultancy areas where students can ask us questions,” added Dr Mohamed Nasser.
The fair, to be held at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre from 11am to 7pm tomorrow and Sunday, will have more than 160 exhibitors and 470 booths occupying five exhibition halls. Admission is free.
Apart from checking out a host of institutions and programmes, visitors can attend various educational and career talks organised in conjunction with the fair. (See table)
Speakers will include A1 Team Malaysia driver Alex Yoong, StarEducation columnist Sunny Yee and Malaysian Medical Association deputy honorary secretary Dr Kuljit Singh.
The fair will also be held at the Penang International Sports Arena on March 1 and 2.
