KUALA LUMPUR, 20 Feb (The Star) -- Local entrepreneurs should take Intellectual Property (IP) seriously so they could establish a brand for their products, said Branding Association of Malaysia president Lewre Lew.
He said many local entrepreneurs were not interested in IP but preferred to own landed properties such as factories.
“It is time for business owners to change their mindset to become brand owners, to build IP.
“This is important for us to secure a future of wanted and valuable IP,” said Lew at the launch of the association's new logo.
He added that the association encouraged local entrepreneurs to keep up with market trends.
The association, which partnered with Studio Grafix, also signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Lim Kok Wing University of Creative Technology (Malaysia).
The association’s patron, International Trade and Industry Minister Datuk Seri Rafidah Aziz, said she hoped the new logo reflected brand awareness and created a strong culture of brand support and loyalty.
On another matter, Rafidah told entrepreneurs that the Barisan Nasional government had always been supportive of local businesses.
“We always try to remove obstacles and we facilitate rather than frustrate. Therefore, it is important for you to support us so we can form a government that manages all challenges,” she said. |
