PUTRAJAYA, 12 June (The star) -- Government offices around the country have started opening half-an-hour earlier and closing 30 minutes later from June 1.
Public Service Department corporate communications unit chief Hasniah Rashid said the policy of staggered working hours for civil servants had been implemented without any hitch.
“So far, the feedback from the public has been positive. With the implementation of this latest policy, it also streamlines the opening and closing time of our offices nationwide.
“This is because previously, staggered hours were only put into place at government offices in Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya,” she said yesterday.
On April 3, Hasniah had said that staggered working hours would take effect at all government offices because it was found that it had contributed to higher productivity among civil servants.
This meant that offices would be open from 7.30am to 5.30am.
Staggered working hours were introduced 10 years ago in departments such as the National Registration and Immigration Departments.
Cuepacs president Omar Osman said the union would be hearing any grouses from civil servants on the new staggered hours in a meeting this weekend.
“We have not received any complaints. We are eager to find out their reaction to the latest development,” he said. |
